DL466: Giants World Series, Moss & McNabb and Phillip Stutts GOPs Election Knowledge On Me

Posted by Dan Levy.

Pat Burrell has two World Series rings. Let that soak in, folks.

Nick and I talk about the World Series, including the admission that Tim McCarver actually had some really good moments in last night’s game. Take, for example, the moment where he told us that Cliff Lee should pitch around Edgar Renteria to get to Aaron Rowand. McCarver was spot on with that. Sure, he comes off as somewhat of a simple baseball mind, but every so often he makes the comment that could have prevented one team from getting eliminated in the World Series.

We also talk about the fact that Pat Burrell has two World Series rings.

Oh, and we touch on many other baseball topics, including Jon Morosi’s Fox Sports column about Renteria which led to this tweet:

I’d put Renteria right up there with Elway, Bettis and Bourque. Any other good examples? http://bit.ly/b3fvXy #SFGiants#Steelers #Broncos

Yes, Edgar Renteria was just compared to John Elway. Nick and I dissect that notion, even if it was, in fact, Renteria’s last game.

Nick and I then quickly talk about the Randy Moss situation and follow up on our cackling about Donovan McNabb from yesterday. That will never get old for us, folks.

POLITICAL SAFARI:

Speaking of cackling, Phillip Stutts — our resident GOPerative — joins the show (around 26 minute mark for those who want to skip ahead) to talk about the election. If you are new to the show, you may have missed our previous political exchanges, which are always entertaining and, well, spirited. Stutts has worked on many a political campaign, including campaigns for the likes of Bobby Jindal and a guy you may have heard of named George W. Bush. He’s what we like to call a Washington “Insider.”

Stutts and I talk about the race, how bad it’ll be for the Democrats, why no truly qualified people seem to run for office anymore, what Barack Obama can do to not lose the Presidency in 2012 and if that does or does not include throwing Joe Biden under a bus.

According to Stutts — WASHINGTON INSIDER — nobody can stand Joe Biden and everyone cringes when he talks in meetings. I may have paraphrased that a bit, but that’s the gist of it. Nobody can stand our Vice President…in his own cabinet. The next two years will be very interesting.

We also talk about Christine O’Donnell and, more specifically, the media’s fascination with her and the rest of the media’s fascination with Gawker’s fascination with her.

Stutts and I don’t agree on a lot, but I love talking to him. And we do agree that you should go out and vote. Unless you plan to vote for Jon Runyan in New Jersey. Then you can stay home.

Thanks for listening.
