I Might Be Going To The Superbowl Yet, Baby

Posted by Dan Levy.

Brian Bassett, my fantasy opponent in the Blogger Fantasy League, sponsored by P&G, had the official recap this week. Go read it after you’re done reading this. But I’ll give you the best part for free:

AFC BEAST

Ray Rice – After not being able to crest the 100 yard rushing mark, or break the plane so far this season, he did both in one game, accumulating 2 TDs and 159 yards from scrimmage.  Also, Rice powered famed Rutgers apologist Dan Levy of Press Coverage to a brutal evisceration of Team What Would Revis Do. Sigh

Sigh. You see that! HE SIGH’D. Because of me. Because of Ray Rice. Because of our all-of-the-sudden fantasy juggernaut, scoring the third-most points in the league. Because we won.

We’re back, baby. Well, not back as much as here, considering our resounding victory over Bassett’s What Would Revis Do team was our first victory of the season. So, yeah, not back at all. But here. We’re here, and we’re resounding. How resounding?

How about 7.28 points of resounding. Yep, not just seven points. Seven-point-two-eight, baby.

I could have benched Josh Cribbs (in for an injured Steve Smith), and the Jaguars defense (in for a Steelers bye week) and still had enough room for a potential Kevin Kolb interception.

I did leave a few points on the bench by starting Kolb over Josh Freeman, but that’s nothing compared to Bassett’s call to start the Sanchize on Monday Night against Minnesota instead of Tony Romo against Tennessee. Despite the Cowboys loss, Romo put up 23.14 points in our league to Sanchez’s 7.64.

Whoops.

Hey, I’ll take the win anyway I can. If you notice on that graphic, I’m currently on a winning streak (of one). and have moved to 1-4 on the season.

Having said that, my team has faced the second most points in the league this year, only eclipsed by Will Brinson’s fellow Gillette team. The difference between my team and his? I have way more points for than his Gillette squad. I am the uber-Gillette now too!

In fact, just based on total points, I’d be in seventh place (out of 12). It’s not great, but it sure as heck beats hanging out with Brinson in the cellar.

Next week I face off against Matt Sebek’s team that’s lost three games in a row. My team has outscored them by amost 50 points in five weeks. Again, I should be favored, and expect to win. And if my team wins — creating a streak of TWO — I could potentially move out of the basement in my division and up to as high as seventh overall if things go my way. Of course, that would mean rooting for Josh Zerkle’s shitbox team, so I’m not sure how I feel about that.

My schedule is favorable, only having to face the top two teams one time each. This is gonna be sweet. I think my team can make a run to the playoffs. We’re Super Bowl bound, baby. How many baby’s has that been, baby? Enough? How about one more for the win, baby? Al Davis would be so proud.

Now if I can only find a quarterback.

(Speaking of baby, my kid will be back soon with his own video recaps. It’s hard to make a baby talk when he doesn’t want to.)
