Why I Hate One CBS Sports Writer Today (And No, It’s Not Gregg Doyel)

Posted by Dan Levy.

I may have, ahem, mentioned that I’m part of the Blogger Fantasy League where the winner gets a trip to the Super Bowl (legalese at the bottom). Each week, one of us will do a recap of the league’s games, or something funny, and link it to the official Facebook page (which you really should go to and has a ton of cool contests and whatnot).

This week, it was Will Brinson’s turn to write the recap. Think of Brinson as a Fanhouse guy? Well, he also does NFL stuff for CBSSports.com — taking all the jobs away from people who really only need one, please — and he decided to rip me for my crappy effort this week.

I hate him. And we are on Team Gillette together too. Some brand loyalty, Brinson.

Here’s what he wrote:

You may recall that I went to NFL headquarters and held a fantasy draft . Well, turns out that my turn to recap the fantasy league is the first week of the season.

Which is totally awesome because my team came out and ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED … ME. That’s right — the only other team the Fuzzy Gullets managed to outscore in Week 1 was “What Would Revis Do,” and I even lost to the absurdly abysmal “Press Coverage” team .

That didn’t stop Dan Levy from whining on Twitter that the two teams who were lower than he was (me, Brian Bassett of the Jets Blog ) “didn’t lose both QBs though.” Um, Dan, you lost Matthew Stafford and Kevin Kolb is “questionable.” It’s not like your team is so miserable that you actually have to own the Cowboys‘ Roy Williams. What’s that? Oh. I see. You DO own Roy. Errrrm.

Here’s the thing: I panicked. I had Eddie Royal in the starting lineup and panicked at the last minute, figuring for one week Roy Williams would perform (big stage, point to prove) and it’d be a few weeks before his job was officially taken by Dez Bryant. For the most part, I was wrong, considering Bryant was all over the field and Williams didn’t do much.

That being said, had I just started Royal, I would have beaten Josh Zerkle despite the fact that Kevin Kolb was my starting quarterback. Also of note, thank you very much Mr. Brinson, is the fact that Alex Barron’s hold cost me the win. Remember, it was Roy Williams who caught the touchdown that wasn’t, giving both Dallas AND ME the loss in the process.

Oh, and can the Ravens please stop giving the ball to everyone but Ray Rice down near the goal line? It’s just ridiculous and I almost hate John Harbaugh as much as Brinson right now.

For full standings and to see those involved, click here. It’s no surprise that Aaron Schatz from FO is one of the leaders in the standings, despite NOT starting Arian Foster. I’m dead. I may just come up with weekly outlandish lineups so whoever is doing the recap has to lead with my ridiculousness and it gets links to the site.

It’s the only way I can win. The fantasy equivalent of a moral victory is pageviews.

The P&G Blogger Fantasy League (BFL) is a group of 12 digital sports influencers competing on the NFL.com fantasy platform for the chance to win P&G product, a donation to a local charity, and a trip to Super Bowl XLV, all furnished by P&G. The NFL Entities have not offered or sponsored the sweepstakes in anyway.
DIGITAL. SPORTS. INFLUENCERS.

Be happy, by the ESPN scoring system Kolb scored zero points so it could have been worse. I notice you guys have only twelve teams. Hopefully you can rebound well next week using the waiver wire.
