CotD: “I Say Bring Back The Tasers. Put Em On Full Stun And Go To Work”

Posted by Dan Levy.

It was 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning between the Phillies and Braves when some idiot decided it was a good time to put on his red spandex suit and try to become famous. I’ve said this on more than one occasion, but anyone who runs onto the field should be dealt with as a serious threat to safety. Do it in a close game, late, in a pennant race? I have no problem if you die.

It’s good to see that Chip Caray agrees with me. Well, maybe not about the dying part, but at least he’s on board with a good game of Taser Ball.

If that video won’t play, CLICK HERE TO WATCH.

As soon as the fan ran onto the field, the Braves announcers mentioned the taser incident (it’d be impossible not to). The Phillies feed never showed the incident, but the Braves telecast did, if for nothing other than showing Matt Diaz taking the moron down. That led to this gem from Caray:

“That’s the only reason we are showing this idiot, was to show the play by Matt Diaz.

“I don’t want to sound like a curmudgeon, but I say bring back the Tasers. Put em on full stun and go to work.”

I can’t believe Caray couldn’t sneak a “fisted” into the call of the moron getting hip checked by Diaz and tackled by security. Caray and I do, however, agree on the Taser thing. Baseball brings people together…through shared beliefs on how to deal with idiots who run on the field.

Of course the one announcer couldn’t help but get in a dig at the security guards and their physical fitness…
