Fine I’ll Bite. Here’s the Chad Dukes Epic Redskins Rant

Posted by Dan Levy.

Look, Steinberg had this link yesterday and I debated posting it but now it’s funneled into every third Tweet I’m reading so here it is: Washington Redskins fan and talk radio host Chad Dukes “how dare you”-ing the Redskins after their epic loss to Philly. It’s epic. Epic. EPIC.

Dukes and LaVar Arrington host a show on 106.7 The Fan DC from 2-7p.m. which means this rant came at least 14 hours after the game was over and at least eight hours into most listeners sports talk daily intake. I’m not saying it’s phony for the sake of getting attention. I’m certain that Dukes was being heart felt and not just inflammatory for the sake of Steinberg (and then the rest of us) giving the show more attention. So the “epic” nature of it is likely genuine.

I just can’t stand the “how dare you” and “you should turn in your keys” and, especially “millionaire athletes” and “you owe us money.”

Teams lose. Teams get blown out. The Denver Broncos lost a rivalry game to the Raiders (THE RAIDERS) 59-14 this season then three weeks later they blew out the Chiefs 49-29 to the point where the Chiefs coach wouldn’t shake their coach’s hand.

It’s the NFL. Stuff happens. That was, likely, the worst loss in the last 40 years for Redskins fans. They have a right to be upset. The “how dare yous” just feel like schtick.

Chris Mottram just tweeted this: This Chad Dukes rant is almost as embarrassing to Redskins fans as their performance on Monday night was. We’re not all that way.

But the fact is, maybe Dukes is that way. Maybe he’s like that at home and maybe he’s like that talking on the phone to his friends. Sure did help that he has a radio show, didn’t it?

To be fair, I don’t listen to Dukes every day so I don’t know if he just got fed up and this is out of character or if he’s the type of radio host that keeps his job by demanding that others lose theirs. But if you read this site a lot, you know how much I hate that. It’s fine to have a discussion as to whether or not a coach is a right fit for a city, a team or a group of players, but the knee-jerk “fire that guy” or “everyone needs to turn in their keys” or, the worst “millionaire athletes owe us money” is lame. What Mottram tweeted is right.

Epic, though. That’s for sure.

The reparations line killed me lol…I think there are fans like that in every city. They’re just a little bit too “homer” for their own good. It allows them to be critical but takes away their ability to be rational from time to time.

Oh well, it gave me a solid 12 minutes of entertainment. I’ll take it.

Part of Chad’s rage is that he doesn’t want to be doing a sports show at all. “I have to get out of this market.” Damn straight.

No wonder LaVar Arrington was never much of a leader…his only rallying cry is “Get ‘Em” repeated ad naseum.

Did you hear Chad was saying, I live in the DC area and if you listen to him he’s saying in general…. All the years of support and the price to support gets higher and higher and no results on the field in return. The way business is done around here is a joke.
