Call of the Day: Worried For Jack Kogod’s Health After Chelsea & Redskins Epic Failures

Posted by Dan Levy.

Blogs are fun, especially when you can take a huge Monday morning in sports and make it about the health and well-being of a fellow blogging friend. Or, you know, twist the knife a little by posting two of the most epic failures of the weekend in one entry, both crushing results for Jack Kogod of KSK.

First, let’s post a video of Chelsea’s Didier Drogba getting stoned on a penalty kick that would have won a match for Chelsea. Instead of sitting atop the Premier League standings with a road win over Tottenham, Chelsea looks to be in big trouble in England’s top division, behind Arsenal and Man City in points (with Arsenal having a game in hand) and, oh yeah, tied with Manchester United, despite United having played TWO fewer matches (they play this afternoon in England’s version of Monday Night Football.)

So here’s the Fox Soccer Channel replay of Drogba’s miss. How to make this into a media post and not just a rip on Kogod? Well, Warren Barton gave credit to Chelsea for playing well in the second half before, I think, writing off their entire season. Right?

“It’s them type of decisions and them type of results that could have changed their season, but there was a lot of positive, particularly in the second half.”

I admit I have no clue what he’s saying, but it does sound like he’s written Chelsea off already. To be honest, I just wanted to type “them type of…” twice.

Hey, but at least Chelsea TIED their match and got an important point on the road. And with more than three months left in the season, there’s still plenty of time to right the proverbial ship despite being 0-2-3 in their last five matches, what with huge contests coming up in the next two weeks against Manchester United and Arsenal.

Plenty of time? You can’t say the same for the Redskins. (Video gripped from HuffPo.)

Man, Moose Johnston was SPOT ON with this call. I bet he felt bad he was right.

Heck, I almost feel bad for Redskins fans at this point, if it wasn’t for the fact that something like this happens to them every year. Feeling bad for a Redskins fan after epic failures like Sunday is like feeling bad for a friend who keeps getting sick eating dairy but refuses to admit he’s lactose intolerant.

Wait, there’s a pill you can take for that. There’s no pill to cure the almost weekly gut-wrenching the Redskins provide.

Kogod, stay away from the whole milk this morning, just in case.
