News@Noon: Media Day, Baseball Robs, Blizzards, Diddy, Conlin Island

Posted by Dan Levy.

News@Noon is a daily amalgamation of links from and about folks we like. If you want to be linked, send us the link.

It’s Super Bowl Media Day!

That deserves another few exclamations!

!!!

• Here are a few links about media day. First, Cindy Boren of the Washington Post is one of the thousands (not a lie) media people who are there to cover the day, focusing as much on the questions asked as the answers given. The media covering the media has become as much a part of media day as asking players questions.

• That said, the players do get questions. This link is from Will Brinson who captured someone asking Clay Matthews, who just inked a hair-care deal, if shampoo or conditioner is more important. Somewhere P&G is hoping that question gets asked to Troy Polamalu.

• Have you heard? You probably haven’t heard. Rob Neyer left ESPN yesterday. Worry not, he landed on his feet pretty quickly, signing up with the fine folks at SB Nation. The news made Neyer a worldwide trending topic on Twitter and Google. Take that, Super Bowl media day…and Egypt.

• Speaking of baseball Robs leaving their baseball writing posts, not enough attention was given yesterday to Rob Iracane and Kris Liakos, et al, closing up shop at Walkoff Walk. When we talk about there being too many blogs out there, we never hope the good ones give up posting. Unless this was a precursor to Iracane signing with SB Nation?

We’ll miss the shrimp…and the human condition.

• Did you see that Diddy is disappointed with Barack Obama’s job as President? You know what he’s not disappointed with? D-Wade (via Kerby at TBJ)

Bill Conlin is his usual ranty self, sending a list of folks off to an island that includes JoePa. But it’s not what you think…or maybe it is. It’s Conlin, after all.

• Last, this is why Dave Brown is the funniest blogger around. I don’t even know if he made the image, but I don’t care. He wins the day.
